Meet the teachers

A great teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart and we are proud to have some of Sydney’s best preschool teachers helping your child learn, grow and prepare for school.

I have worked with children for over 25 years and now I have my own (Bel and Eden) who also attended here at Northside. I like spending time with my friends, music of al genres, reading and renovating our home and especially indulging in some retail therapy when time and money permits. I’m a local having gone to Seaforth Public School and have always lived ion the Northern Beaches. I have a Diploma in Child Studies and have managed Child Care centres for the last 20 years. I especially enjoy the challenges and the laughter that each day brings me.

I have been at Northside for 4 years now and am currently studying my diploma. I worked at a boarding school in England in 2017 for a year which is where I realized that I have a passion for teaching the age group of 2.5 -6 year old’s. It is so bittersweet seeing each group of Hungry Caterpillars graduate, but it is so incredible to see the children growing up and blossoming into their own little individuals.

I incorporate my passions for helping others and sustainability into the lesson plans for the children to develop their social/emotional skills. Northside has been like a second home to me and I absolutely love working here.

I have been at Northside since 2018 and have always loved working with children at this age and watching them all grow into their own individuals. Northside has always felt like a family to me, and I love coming in everyday to see the staff and children.

One part of the day I enjoy at Northside is the Phonics program, where I am able to teach both the hungry caterpillars and rainbow fish our letter of the week by singing songs and reading stories. All the children love phonics time as they challenge themselves to think of the best word of the day. I also love when we have dance parties and listen to our favourite songs.

I have been here at Northside since the start of 2021 and I have loved every minute of it! I am currently studying for my Certificate 3 in Early Childhood. I have coached and trained children of all ages in many sports and this has made me realize I love being around children and helping them grow and learn new skills.

When I was younger, I also came to Northside and Miss Carley was one of my teachers!! Working with children aged 2 – 6 is always so much fun and I look forward to coming into work to see them. One of my favourite times of the day would have to be when we all play games like UNO and Monopoly. The children are very competitive and they always make sure to beat me any chance they get.

I have been an Early Childhood Teacher for 23 years having completed my Bachelor of Education at CSU Bathurst. I am originally from country NSW, I’m married and have two Daughters and a Labrador named Dudley. Spending time with my Family and watching my girls play sport is how I like to enjoy my spare time.

I am so proud of the warm and nurturing environment that is Northside Preschool, and of the relationships that our wonderful Teachers have built with our children and their Families.

I have just started working with Northside preschool and towards my Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education. I have two and a half years experience of being an educator with explore and develop in the OSHC program and have worked with children of all ages throughout my previous jobs as little as 5 months of age.  I love being a part of children’s learning and development whilst watching their personalities grow!

Peter

Over the past few years I have worked internationally in bars, hotels, restaurants and cafes and more recently begun teaching swimming to children from ages 3-7.

I am now looking to pursue my career working with children and my Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Edwina

I most happily joined Northside in 2022.  My youngest attended here with Miss Carley, Miss Penny and Miss Peta in 2013 and 2014. Now I work alongside them, which is a lovely full circle. I am a busy mum to 3 teenagers and 2 young adults, so life has been very full!

I am currently completing my BSc (Psych)Cri and enrolled in my Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care. I also taught Ethics at Seaforth Public School for 6 years. I am proud to be part of the team at Northside as I know it offers a warm, nurturing, family-like environment where the children can feel safe, belong, learn, grow and thrive in.
